Make Travel Effortless & Fun!

Travel can be amazing - make it effortless too with a few smart moves!

#1 - Trip vs. Vacation

A trip and a vacation may seem similar, but they have different vibes and purposes. Make sure you are on the same page with your travel buddy—plan for fun, not frustration!

  • Trip = A trip usually has a goal or purpose beyond relaxation. It could be for business, education, family visits, or even an adventure that involves planning and effort. Trips often have itineraries, multiple destinations, and activities that might not always be leisurely. You come back feeling like you've done something

  • Vacation = A vacation is all about taking a break from daily responsibilities. The goal is relaxation, enjoyment, and recharging. You might lounge on a beach, explore a new city at your own pace, or indulge in things that bring you joy. You return feeling refreshed (at least in theory!).

If you do both on your travel, great! Just make sure others know that.

#2 - Universal Packing List

The best travel hack? A single master packing list for the whole family! No more guessing—just tweak it for each trip’s location and weather. I print it out (yep, old school!) and hand it off.

For little kids, add pictures so they can help pack. For older ones, give them the list, the suitcase, and let them take charge!

#3 - Travel Products

I shared these products in my newsletter and received such great response, I am posting here as well. I keep travel gadgets simple, but there are a few I absolutely love—and a few new ones I'm excited to try!

  • Our essentials! Ear Plugs & Sleep Masks: Blocking out noise and light can make all the difference in getting quality rest while traveling. A few simple essentials go a long way in making travel feel more enjoyable!

  • New this year for our family! Before your luggage is lost, an AirTag might seem like overkill—until you realize it's essential. This is our first year using packing cubes—everyone raves about them, but I’m still a bit skeptical. Let’s see how it goes!

#4 - How to Organize a Suitcase

Marie Kondo and her KonMari Method have tips & tricks to packing the suitcase for your trip OR vacation. Check out her article on How to Organize a Suitcase. It should be of no surprise to bring the items, clothes, books that bring you joy and leave the rest at home.

Marie Kondo’s KonMari Method has genius tips for packing—whether it’s a trip or a vacation! Check out her article on How to Organize a Suitcase and, of course, pack only what sparks joy!

#5 - TSA Pre-Check

Remember that check in line at spring break last year, winding through the airport at 6am? You still have time to skip that line!

TSA PreCheck saves time and stress at airport security. You get access to a dedicated fast lane, keep your shoes, belt, and light jacket on, and don’t have to remove laptops or liquids from your bag. Costs are ~$75 for 5 years and often kids are included with your membership (depending on age).

To sign up for TSA PreCheck, head to the official website: https://www.tsa.gov/precheck. There, you can start the application process, schedule an in-person appointment for a background check, and pay the fee. It’s a straightforward process that can make future travel a breeze!
